The role of women and how their roles changed during different eras can be directly compared to how the roles of African Americans in our society changed. African Americans were brought to America to be used as slaves. As time progressed and the nation changed the use of slaves became no longer excepted and slavery was emancipated. This was then followed by the fourteenth amendment and the fifteenth amendment.
